INTRODUCTION STICHTING FRITZ H. SCHRODER FOUNDATION
The Fritz H. Schröder Foundation was set-up with the single goal to stimulate prostate cancer research in Europe by sponsoring a yearly prostate cancer research award. The board of the Foundation has reached a mutual agreement with the European Urological Association (EAU), which has agreed to set-up the organization structure necessary for a proper choice of the best paper of the previous year by a young researcher. The EAU has established a committee of experts to judge on submissions, also, a standard procedure was set-up by which the reviewers have to use a standardized form to judge on the quality of the reported research results and their presentation. Also, the EAU has agreed to announce the Award regularly in ‘European Urology Today’ and to hand out the Award during the opening ceremony of the annual congress together with the chairman of the Fritz H. Schröder Foundation.
The Foundation is registered in the Netherlands (RSIN number: 8516.37.735). The statutes determine that the EAU has the right to assign one board member whereas one board member is always part of the review committee of the EAU. The Foundation has enough financial backing to provide a yearly award of € 5.000,-. Next to this annual award the Fritz H. Schröder Foundation makes it possible to invite an (inter)national speaker foor the Pieter Donker lecture at the annual meeting of the Dutch Association of Urology. The Fritz H. Schröder Foundation is not raising funds actively, however Prof. Schroder donates the Foundation according to his donation plan. The Fritz H. Schröder Foundation aims to keep her financial position stable. The own funds are placed on a savings account and a part is also invested in bonds. The yearly interest is added to the equity. The board of the Foundation meets yearly to discuss current issues and future aspects of the management of the Awards.
